The ECSS (European Cooperation for Space Standardization) Organisation has launched a new initiative to simplify the ECSS Standards as such and to streamline its application, especially in the contractual phases.
SME4SPACE as part of the dedicated Working Group on ECSS NextGen and together with the other components of the WG is reviewing all the ECSS Standards to reduce the number of contractual binding requirements (currently more than 29,000) by 50%.
Every month a batch of requirements of one or more ECSS Standards are reviewed, categorised and agreed as “Contractual requirement”, “Mean of compliance”, “Informative” or a combination of the three categories above or even defined as “Technical procedures” or “Technical specifications”.
This initiative also foresees to fully digitalise all the ECSS Standards to simplify and to foster their application not only within ESA or Large System Integrators’ projects and contracts, but even to perform other type/scale of projects.
SMEs that would like to know more and/or to be kept informed on this initiative, can contact SME4SPACE at the following email address info@sme4space.org with the subject: “ECSS NextGen”
